Watching Elon operate in a domain I have some familiarity with has put me off ever wanting to own a Tesla.

Three senior+ software engineers working at Twitter quote tweeted the below, pointing out how it doesn’t make sense. All three fired the same day, one done in public. I know everyone’s watching Twitter’s various features & systems fall apart. It’s clear that the wheels are falling off. But a quick reminder that you also need to keep an eye on what’s happening in the European regulatory space. In short, Twitter’s in BIG, BIG trouble. 1/Rebekah Tromble | rebekahtromble@federate.social (@RebekahKTromble)Mon, 14 Nov 2022 22:56 GMT

My twitter account was protected at the time, so I can only assume this was for not showing 100% loyalty in slack. I’ve heard the same thing has happened to many others now.

Criticizing in private also ended up in pretty much instant firing. So...
Gergely Orosz (@GergelyOrosz)Tue, 15 Nov 2022 12:44 GMT
For those saying that criticizing should be done in private: I have reports for a number of employees similarly terminated the past 24 hours who were criticizing Musk's tweet on an internal Slack watercooler channel. Some criticized other eng leaders. ~10 people, as I hear.Gergely Orosz (@GergelyOrosz)Tue, 15 Nov 2022 12:31 GMT

Fun JS bug of the day introduced by a linting change, that lost me a good amount of time trying to work out what was going wrong:
- const tokenSet = await client.oauthCallback(redirect, params, { code_verifier });
+ const tokenSet = await client.oauthCallback(redirect, params, { codeVerifier })
Silently changed the meaning of the code here, and needed to be fixed with:
- const tokenSet = await client.oauthCallback(redirect, params, { codeVerifier }).catch((err) => {
+ const tokenSet = await client.oauthCallback(redirect, params, { code_verifier: codeVerifier }).catch((err) => {
Funnily enough, I've had this lead to dangerous logging in the past, but didn't spot this at first. That'll teach me!
