Kind replies

Thanks for sharing your thoughts now you've left, it's nice to see how you feel about the whole experience, as I'd seen a little bit of the inside and what sort of things you were up against at times. Was great having another brilliant technical mind helping deliver some pretty great stuff for the country π
Absolutely! My site is static - with some backend services for sending Webmentions, supporting Micropub for me to update my site - but I can reply to you from my website, through the power of Bridgy Fed π
Just don't do like I did and lead to spamming everyone
I've really enjoyed running on Hetzner for years, glad you're finding it good too!
What was it like? Would you do it again?
I think you may have already read it, but would very much recommend #TheExpanse
I'm definitely keeping an eye for use with https://github.com/deepmap/oapi-codegen and whether we could add experimental support for it π
Considering it! Submitted some talks so π€π½ but it's been a couple of years since I've been and would be nice to go back
Omg yes! This made me irate at the weekend
I know we've looked at in the past (as Kevin notes) - Ryan Barrett is there any option with the browser extension, or does that only provide backfeed?
Got a link to the original post?
In terms of layout or to actually implement?
Ahh huge congrats π
Yes is the short answer - Aaron Parecki has been working on it and it seems like it takes a good chunk of time to do it right. I've been using https://fed.brid.gy to allow folks to follow my site at @www.jvt.me and I send webmentions to Bridgy to auto-syndicate my posts to my followers' servers. Means I don't need an RSS->Mastodon bot and outsources all the hard work to the service built by the wonderful Ryan Barrett which may be of interest, but could also be a little too much work if you'd prefer to avoid doing it with adding a bot
Jazzy and comfy? Sign me up ποΈ
Does the Unreads

What sort of things are you looking at in particular? Some of the stuff my talented colleagues at Deliveroo Engineering may be able to share!
Sad that the original tweet has only 150 likes for all the hard work π https://twitter.com/FlavorFlav/status/1590600728355418113
Thanks, that's what I was seeing when subscribing from another server - will see if I can work out how to approve π

Have any posts popped up for you yet? Want to check it works π should be at least one post - my week notes
100% - I wrote about this the other day (https://www.jvt.me/posts/2022/10/22/tech-industry-free-labour/) and the way that as an industry we need to be more careful about our boundaries!
I've fixed the original post on my site now - allows folks to follow me from ie Mastodon directly from Mastodon!
Ah you'll need the www in there too
This is how it looks on indieweb.social - https://indieweb.social/web/@www.jvt.me@www.jvt.me - does that work for you? Or are you seeing an error when trying to use that?
Lol nope π will try and sort it - it's @ domain @ domain
https://webmention.app/ perhaps?
Could make it a joke about writing concurrent software - mvaepgnlni
, or similar, where all the letters in the name are out of order?
Very much liking the .tape
format, I wish this would then be embeddable as an Asciicast (https://asciinema.org) - looks like https://github.com/charmbracelet/vhs/issues/109 is open for this so π€π½
Thanks for sharing!
Also me and my Week Notes π
Yikes π
I still get the same, it's good fun seeing I'm still indoctrinating the company π€
Nice! If they're useful to keep I'll use git commit --fixup
into a parent commit (so I can then git rebase -i --autosquash) or into a commit called
DROPME` to remind me to get rid of that commit when I'm ready to go
Sorry no I mean if it ie takes you two weeks to do a task that's usually two days, because you're investing in a new editor or productivity tool, then maybe there's something there to introspect. As you say chances are there are different things at play too, but if it's that you've gone from a perfectly set up IDE to a barebones editor, then thinking about whether that's the right call for productivity investment is important
ππ½ I'm at https://www.jvt.me/kind/articles/ for my blog, or https://www.jvt.me/ for all sorts of content like posts I think readers would be interested in, what podcasts I'm listening to, etc
Yeah I guess "don't take the piss" isn't quite as descriptive as it could be. Talking with your manager and seeing what's reasonable is best, but ie taking two weeks longer to do a "straightforward" task may not be the best
Hey, that's not fair. They're also sexist, misogynistic, homophobic and a little xenophobic!
Only gone and got worse in the 4 hours since you tweeted this π€‘
Gotta monetise the monetisation
#MartinLewis mine is public! https://www.jvt.me/salary/ I've recently blogged about what's happened in the year since posting it, too https://www.jvt.me/posts/2022/09/21/year-later-salary-history/
I've worked at an Enterprise that does it, and I've got some β¨ thoughts β¨ I may write up one day π
Thanks, yes I did, my analytics have been slowly ticking up
Thanks very much π₯Ί I appreciate it and this is really lovely to read π let me know if there's anything in particular I can do to help!
Haha thanks Jess, I certainly do π I'll certainly put on my tester's hat and see if I can spot anything π
