Kind replies

That's fair. Looking at the way the AWS one works, it's a nicer design, so may just leave mine as a mostly completed repo, but glad I went through the process!

Really love the format and the very clear intention - definitely codifies similar things that I want out of them!

Thanks for sharing gRegor, sending big hugs ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’œ

It's a very difficult time, and I echo your concern about people thinking COVID is over ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I've been a bit more isolated than before too (as very well put in https://gregorlove.com/2019/11/friends-wanted/), but fortunately I live with my partner so I'm not exactly that isolated.

During COVID I bought a house, and the overwhelming nature of it all, as well as everything going on already sent me down a depressive spiral, but fortunately with enough help from my partner I sought therapy and started working towards getting out.

One thing with therapy is finding the right therapist - I know it will feel like starting from the beginning with someone new, but could help? But either way it's still a tonne of effort so good on you going through it, and making progress on looking after yourself

Are there any hobbies / things you can do as a way to relax and focus on? I've found jigsaws/playing with Lego has helped a fair bit, whereas I would usually just use gaming as complete escapism

Haha yes! Just this morning I've got https://journal.jvt.me live as a dynamic site for that purpose, which also speaks Micropub, and before long I'll be moving my main site to a dynamic one too. Fewer moving parts, then

Last 6ish years I've done corporate Mac and it's been alright - you're able to get GNU coreutils and all the things we like from Linux, and then can add things like Rectangle for a tiling window manager, but at the end of the day it's still a weird ecosystem. Not used Windows nor WSL to compare tho ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Hard relate to this for people saying get a dog for depression. Can't be depressed if you're too sleep deprived and exhausted in life to think about your thoughts ๐Ÿ˜‚

I mean, that's a valid alternative? Yes it would be nicer to get the pronouns correct, but instead of getting it wrong or not caring, they're at least respecting folks?

Reminds me of https://github.com/avito-tech/go-mutesting/issues/19 where deleting temporary files ended up mutating into something much worse ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I've found sometimes it's due to Firefox's tracking and privacy protection which can flag some JS as bad, so try turning that off to see if that works

 Reply

Oh no, hope you have a mild case of it!

While you're positive you may be able to get more, but they may be the down-the-throat ones. We've been buying the nicer ones, which are ยฃ9-ยฃ11 for 5 tests ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I had 2 months (Senior Engineer, 1 month for lower grades) at Capital One, 3 months (Senior Engineer) at the government, and right now at Deliveroo (Senior Engineer) its 1 month

There's a balance, but sometimes being happy just hitting publish and tweaking later. Avoids perfectionism going into overdrive and ending up never publishing anything when instead you can get a not-quite-perfect post out. Some folks even categorise them differently (https://rusingh.com/a-new-blog-category-named-drafts-but-why/)

I'd personally reach for Sinatra, but I'm also not as much of a Rubyist, so chances are there are some other options!

I wish I knew where on Facebook my posts were being shared, or whether it includes things like WhatsApp too

I always think I've seen it all with #TheBoys, then they throw another curveball ๐Ÿ˜‚

I ended up doing this with just listing all the repos I'm in, then checking for issues, all via the API. Bit awkward, but it works!

๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ I've definitely been through it a couple of times, and am pretty sure I'm in a small burnout phase too

Hugo on AWS Cloudfront, deployed with GitLab CI. Because of how large my site is, it takes ~8 minutes to push a single post ie this reply, so I'm glad I'm on a fast SSG, but I'm planning on converting it to a dynamic site soon
