I've got a blog post on my backlog to write about how I've started learning Go, which may or may not help. What background do you have / experience with other languages?
Not sure when I'll get around to writing the post, though

You're welcome, it's in the theme itself so under layouts
, and wherever the post's content is being rendered. If you look for .Content
you may find it
We're doing it at Deliveroo Engineering
Oh my yeah I get that, that sounds very extreme π
I recently did so much of my house's outside surfaces and it's so satisfying π
I'm definitely the opposite - all about overcomplicating simple things π
I do similar with my step counts from Google Fit - https://www.jvt.me/kind/steps/ - which is synced nightly. Do you need a native app, or just fancy it?
And more Vegan, too
Congrats to you both ππ½ππ½
Looks good, was there a reason for not using something like Dependabot, WhiteSource Renovate etc?
One thing I'll always remember from FOSDEM a few years back was him doing a live demo, having technical issues and he literally took a fresh laptop out of his bag and started doing the demo on that one. Being so prepared and smooth when going through demos or speaking is a huge one I see in great speakers like Scott!
Nice to see I'm still a very high publisher π«£
I know my retries were broken for quite some time so that wasn't ideal, but I wonder why GitHub is so high, as I barely publish to it.
Maybe because it allows updates to the syndicated text?
Are you implying that not self hosting infrastructure means it's not owned by me? We've got to be pragmatic and allow some things to be not run by us, especially if you want things to become mainstream
I've had one of these in a box for years. Really need to get round to installing it cause damn that looks amazing
Have you seen indieweb.org/why before? It's what we're trying to do, and is ie how I can own my reply to you, on Twitter, but using my own site as the source of that interaction, using open protocols and standards
KeePassXC, with Keepass2Android, synced via various means

ππ½ I'm everywhere
See also Ryan Barrett and anyone on https://brid.gy
More API documentation related, but gov.uk have some great docs on how to document https://www.gov.uk/guidance/how-to-document-apis
I used to say "almost 6"" then realised that was pretty weird π
I've got a playlist called Pumped (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/664XTaQfwj0vnSHxrI6tXc?si=v7NrS1AtQ3qDD1r_8NXbKg) which works quite well. There are a few artists in here that hopefully you'll like π€π½
When was the last time you used Java? A lots changed and the language is really great now for a lot of things. Not saying convert over, but always worth adding context for when the last time you used it π
KFC did gravy-naise for one of their specials, the Gravy Burger, and it was so good. Its a buy for me π
Some of the things I did in my recent job hunt ( https://www.jvt.me/posts/2022/05/02/lessons-learned-job-hunt/ ) weren't too bad and gave me a chance to shine, but definitely strongly despise ones that don't test a representation of what my actual job would be like
Where is this nightmare fuel from? π±
Why not? Now concerned about our black cat π
I'd simply reached out and gone through the official process. For me it was looking at companies I was interested at working at, for a mix of culture and tech, with a bit more focus on culture
Yeah that's fair. I mostly see people screenshotting someone's joke and getting 50k likes while the original is at like 50 π
Huge congrats ππ½ππ€
Thank you! I definitely wanted to be honest, even if it was just for myself to read back on.
Haha yeah being on the receiving end I was a bit like π€¨

Thanks didn't realise Terence Eden had shared it there ππΌ
There's a load of cool ones like https://blog.new (more info https://www.blog.google/outreach-initiatives/entrepreneurs/shortcuts-made-possible-new/)
Definitely feel like I would like to have one of these domains but they're super expensive and not sure I need it that much
I've done nothing on my side for it, so they must've automagically determined that made sense for the preview!
We've not yet done the repeater side of things π but we know it's possible!
We've got https://www.blinds-2go.co.uk/ which are controlled with a remote you can get a repeater for, so can then attach to a smart switch. They're also made to measure so handy to install ππΌ
Definitely read the name as "best selling bigot" π
Aw thank you very much π₯° π
reddit is loving this reply https://www.reddit.com/r/MurderedByWords/comments/ugfsew/the_key_to_a_successful_marriage
One of the reasons I would consider removing the full content is due to size. When I've had extremely long articles in the feed, it's caused some feed readers to break π₯Ή
Practical and a great design!
If you've not seen the wonderful https://granary.io/ by Ryan Barrett it's worth a look in the meantime, and provides a hosted tool for converting feeds/people/lists to various formats. Works with silos other than Twitter, too βΊ

It's also a good way of leading to burnout, and may not actually help in the long run. Definitely can be useful to show off at an interview, but doesn't necessarily always work because the interviews may realise people may have other source code platforms, may not have free time because they're a care giver etc
https://www.jvt.me/posts/2017/02/07/open-sawesome/ is a post I wrote after doing 24 Pull Requests in a month, while juggling things in my life

Designated Survivor did this well from what I remember
