This certainly happened, but I don’t think it was ever “the standard”. The fact that it worked, though, made me stoked 100% of the time. I’ll counter with the fact that when this happens, it almost always worked fine for the user.

Remember way back in the day when the standard for writing Chef recipes was basically "fuck the DSL, we'll write raw Ruby!" ? Before everyone realized maybe that wasn't the best idea?
