Whether it's leveling, salary bands, equity grants, or anything else, you should ALWAYS ensure that changes are applied equally to existing employees and new hires. The fact that so many tech companies don't seem to do this blows my everloving mind.Post details
If we can both agree that if I left to get a higher level at another company and tried to come back, you'd give me the benefit of the doubt and hire me back at the higher level, it's in neither of our best interests to force me actually go and do that...
