I heard a confession from a friend the other day who's working on ML in health care who's leaving that field as soon as he can because as best as he and his team can measure, the most important thing ML analytics can bring to hospitals is the mathematical certainty they should have taken the money they spent on ML analytics and hired nurses instead.

Had a nice productive post-holiday morning getting Renovate set up the k8s.social to handle automated update PRs for me. 😃 Been putting it off for too long now. And with that, everything running in the cluster is now fully updated.! 🎉

I would have more patience for the argument that #OpenSource is dead were it not for the fact the people making the argument are benefiting from huge quantities of the stuff and would rather their customers didn't benefit the same #SoftwareFreedom

Last week AWS published a blog post advising that the go1.x Lambda runtime will be deprecated and people should migrate to provided.al2. I was already using the newer runtime, but I also learned from the blog post that AWS SAM can now build Go Lambda functions for the newer runtime - no more Makefiles required!
