How can a tiny mistake by a single engineer have these type of consequences? Where is QA? How is the code migration process? SO MANY QUESTIONS! They should not blame the developer!

Yes, I'm also aware that @phil_nash and I on the same team may well have started some sort of DevRel singularity. But at this stage I'm just mostly excited to see how many of my emails he gets.

Delighted to announce that I am back in the #DevRel game for 2023. I've joined @SonarSource as a developer advocate for JavaScript and TypeScript, alongside the fantastic @pmckee, @gamesbrainiac, and @phil_nash. Now, what are the JS events I should be getting out to this year?Phil Nash | @philnash@mastodon.social (@philnash)Mon, 16 Jan 2023 06:10 GMT

Something funny I realised in the last few years is that I've internalised the way that JD from Scrubs tilts his head off to one side to daydream, but instead of daydreaming it's better process or imagine something that someone is saying 😅

People will tell you that it will pass but you feeling the way you feel for as long as you need to is completely valid -- you are an amazing human and you don't have to feel ok if things are not. There are lots of people here for you who want to support you, just remember that

I’ve noticed that the men that threaten women with being “old and alone” are almost exclusively the type of man who would make a woman’s life objectively worse with a relationship

Moderna is planning to charge $130 for its COVID vaccine, but the vaccine only costs $2.85 to make. Meanwhile, over the last two years, the company made over $19 billion in profits off the vaccine. Folks, this is what corporate greed looks like.Robert Reich (@RBReich)Sun, 15 Jan 2023 17:48 GMT
Autistic masking is trying to squeeze your entire self, all your energy, into a weird and boring shape. If we work, we can do this for hours and hours a day, year after year, until we're squeezed out, broken, boring, and bitter.

I think what people don't get is there's no "opt out" for women. Being attached is a desirable attribute in a male content producer for both men and women- he's got a wife/GF, men want to be like him/women find him respectable. It's a non-threatening default. Not so for women.

Being a woman online is a paradox cuz you post pics of your spouse/partner online, ppl get mad & unfollow. If you hide them people say you’re baiting and leading them on. And then if you’re single, people think you owe them their time or that you’re inherently up for grabs.✨💖 Sarah Fong 💖✨ (@sarah_fong_tho)Sun, 15 Jan 2023 02:01 GMT

Was in Paris on Friday night and a handsome French man was flirting with me and I asked him what his name was and he said (very Frenchly) “Ah you will be disappointed” and I thought what a silly thing to say and then he said “it is Kevin” and you know what? I was disappointed.

Why do people use full on frameworks? Because they're sick of having to wire up and bootstrap a fucking PHP session and flash middleware and then find out the middleware stack is in the wrong order and something doesn't work and oh now it needs more configuring... I want to be productive, not spend my time bootstrapping yet another minimal framework that includes basically nothing.

"Queer" is a great alternative to LGBT+. It's quicker to say. It doesn't relegate any identity to the other side of the plus sign. It invites all queer folks to be equal. It's cool being queer.

Monorepos are great…to a point. Grouping apps that use the same tech in one repo makes a lot of sense. Why? Because they can share a lot of code and config. But, grouping disparate, unrelated tech? Likely not worth it. Summary: Put *similar* projects in monorepos.Cory House (@housecor)Sat, 14 Jan 2023 22:25 GMT
