once I realized that cisgender people treat gender essentially as a very dogmatic and unquestioned religion, a lot of their hang ups, restricted thinking, and sense of unfathomable gender taboos instantly made a lot more sense to me

I cannot discourage you more from viewing this as a desirable career path. It might work for one or two rare people but between the lack of time spent building and the rapid growth in management it's as likely to result in a poor skill set than long term success

Great article from Pragmatic Engineer but this career/experience ladder seems off to me. Not looking to gatekeep but I’m surprised one can be called a senior engineer in 3 years. I once met a man on a train in Serbia who was trying to travel to every single country, and the minimum definition was one sleep and one beer. I’ve got about 50 done (35 entirely by bike) and now I can finally tick off Vatican City. I worry that very soon wearing a mask will be seen as negativity/fear mongering & people will try to ban them. Folks want the ability to harm without feeling bad or being reminded of the harm. The responsibility of quieting that discomfort will fall on the people being cautious.

Genuinely don’t understand why people DON’T like this show. It is more accurate as far as puberty and emotions than the sex Ed being taught in schools and it’s funny on top of it. If you don’t like coach Steve or Lola you’re wrong 👀Bay ♡ (@Cam1Bay)Tue, 19 Apr 2022 12:56 +0000

I think it is a mistake to tie career ladders to years of experience, and that instead they should be defined by the scope and scale of projects someone is able to execute independently on. Years of experience are meaningless, demonstrated competence is all that matters.twitter.com/lanooba/status…Post details

It’s not a generalization, and it’s not exclusive to men. People with the ol meat and veg do much more, frankly very hyper normalized, rearranging than those without.

I am tempted to wear a mask on flights and in airports for the rest of my life. I also will never hand shake again. People frequently touch their dick and balls just before they touch your hands. No thank you to the penile imprint.

Tip for social media cards on Twitter: if Twitter has cached a URL without a social media card and you later add one, you can reset Twitter's global cache (as far as I can tell) by running the URL through their card validator tool cards-dev.twitter.com/validatorSimon Willison (@simonw)Tue, 19 Apr 2022 21:26 +0000

Unpopular opinion: If your @jsonschema doesn't say `additionalProperties: false`, then your #API should have an explicit processing model for additional properties.
