This is so inspiring: GOV.UK really sweating the details here on performance, removing 32KB of jQuery for a ~5-10% improvement on various metrics for low-powered devices twitter.com/therealnooshu/…Post details
🧵As I mentioned last week GOV.UK removed jQuery as a dependency for all frontend apps, meaning 32 KB of minified & compressed JS was removed. So let's see what difference this has made for users by examining our RUM data. Thread will mainly focus on JS CPU time.Matt Hobbs v2.0 💉💉💉💉 (@TheRealNooshu)Thu, 31 Mar 2022 11:05 +0000

Managing teams has taught me a lot about my own behaviors and motivations. For example, I overworked for a long time. This left me continually teetering on the brink of burnout, and I had no energy left to absorb the typical sorts of organizational changes that happen at any company. Despite doing good work, I handled change poorly, and I picked up the reputation for being difficult to manage. I’d like to say that I learned from my mistakes directly, but the honest version is that I came to understand this dynamic mostly through working with folks struggling from the same issue.

Andrew Doyle is someone who is perpetually cynical about “queer culture”. He sees it as “wokery”, a debasement of rational thought . Trans issues intersect this. He parodies a white privileged woman on twitter to make these points. But its not really a parody. It’s his fantasy twitter.com/gbnews/status/…Post details

AGPLv3 wasn't designed to guarantee that anyone will "contribute back." It was designed to guarantee that the permissions required for Software Freedom will be given to those who access software over a network. It's about "paying forward" to users not "paying back" to authors.
