If you write technical articles, please add a publish date to the article. Too many articles contain outdated information & I see people being misinformed because of that. If you write technicla articles, PLEASE INCLUDE A PUBLISH DATE. Thank you!Sara Soueidan (@SaraSoueidan)Mon, 25 May 2020 15:43 +0000
For those of you that weren't able to make Pauline Narvas's talk at #WiTNotts, it's on her YouTube channel π https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fybQ2oId1I4
And for folks who've rightfully come out of Pauline Narvas's talk at #WiTNotts wanting to start blogging, there's #HomebrewWebsiteClub Nottingham which is every other week (online) and is a great space to put two hours aside to blog / work on your website
Another good point by Pauline Narvas - be careful about oversharing / sharing things that may make hurt you/your company's public image, as well as hurt folks you know #WiTNotts
I'm enjoying how Pauline Narvas has answered lots of questions with "I'll send you a blog post I've written about this", it's nice to see someone other than me doing it π #WiTNotts
YES! Pauline Narvas's comment at #WiTNotts about having blogging influence the quality/length of her Pull Request descriptions resonates massively with me. Since doing more blogging / technical writing I've found that my written communication has improved greatly - or maybe it's just more verbose π
Been a great kickoff from Anna Dodson and @LittleHelli to start #WiTNotts and we're about to have to Pauline Narvas's talk Thoughts to Pixels: the impact of blogging
It'll be of no surprise to any of you who know me as a #PersonalWebsite and #blogging advocate that I would be very much looking forward to Pauline Narvas's talk at #WiTNotts this Thursday! And as it's remote, hopefully more of you can join!

In this 9 minute podcast, Craig Burgess speaks about how he wished he'd got started on his #PersonalWebsite and doing more #blogging early on in his career. Craig also speaks about the #IndieWeb and why everyone should get involved.
Also doing NaBloPoMo (https://www.jvt.me/posts/2019/11/01/national-blog-post-month/ ) helped lots as I got used to publishing pretty quickly, which was kinda the point of it, for me at least
I used to refine things lots, but it meant spending hours on a post that took 5 minutes to read. Long posts I do still refine over time, but generally want them done at most a few days after it's finished being written.
If it's a Blogumentation post (https://www.jvt.me/posts/2017/06/25/blogumentation/ ) then I'll actively not refine it too much as a long post as the point is that it's for me in the future so if its not as readable I'll just edit it then
An interesting idea, but surely you'd not want to break existing links to your articles, and instead have it update the article to say "this may be outdated, we're reviewing this"?
What I've Learned Over National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) 2019 (4 mins read).
Looking back at a month of blogging every day, and what I've learned.
A huge milestone, and a great look back at the way Ton is helping to change the community for the better by promoting better practices on ownership of our data
#10MoreBlogPosts sounds like a great initiative - hope that it'll help get more folks into blogging.
I've found it's really helped me personally since starting to work on blogumentation (blogging as a form of self-documentation https://www.jvt.me/posts/2017/06/25/blogumentation/ )
Why I Have a Website and You Should Too (12 mins read).
A persuasive look at the many reasons why you should have your own website, and some of the benefits it will bring you.
