Week Notes 24#21

A successful my ON Week (hackathon) at work:

• Linh and I made some really great progress on setting up a scheduled re-scan of the org's dependencies with dependency-management-data, using the Periodically updating, with multiple worker nodes design
• Ended up learning a lot about Google Cloud (with thanks to Linh) and we needed to pivot a couple of times based on misunderstandings or finding that we couldn't get things triggering
• Was also interesting to see the progression in design since I did it last at Deliveroo
• Managed to get a GitHub App on Thursday evening (with Thursday being the last official day on the hackathon week) and so spent most of my evening wiring that in, so we now have real-time updates on pushes to repos, too
• Having the GitHub App has also given insight into repos we didn't originally have visibility into, so lots more interesting data to look at 👏
• Cookie's continued to be poorly, and so we took her to the vets nad have need to spend a fair bit of time keeping an eye on her, and tricking her into eating tablets - which she hasn't wanted to do
  • But thankfully in the last couple of days she's been back to her (annoying) self which we're mostly happy about!
• This weekend I've been looking at what it would take to create an alternative pure Go implementation of Datasette, for the needs of dmd-web
  • In particular the ability to integrate with CodeMirror's editor using qualified's LSPs would be super good, as I've recently really enjoyed the support that sqls gives me, and kinda want that for DMD users
• Done well doing a few sessions of Ring Fit this week
• Only played Apex Legends this week, as solos has been fun enough to keep me busy, especially with basically zero downtime between games
• Got round to doing a couple of life admin things
• Didn't manage to get pizza yesterday at Asda, so instead we got Iskender from Rakki Rakkas which was 😋
• And managed to get the pizzas today 😋
• Very glad for a long weekend, although staying up too late last night with Zelda is making it 🥱 trying to write these now
  • But did manage to do the desert colliseum without much prep
• Was a great first OpenUK online meetup - found the maintainers' thoughts very interesting and there was some good chatter with the attendees
• It's 5 years since the Game of Thrones finale, and I'm still not over what a poor ending it was
