Week Notes 24#44

A spicy week at work (for many reasons) and overworking:

  • Couldn't sleep very well on Monday night, as on Tuesday I had a couple of big things at work the next day - a big meeting to present Open Source usage to leadership, and a possibly spicy change - and when I woke up in the night it took a while to get back to sleep
  • .. and it turns out the spicy change registered rather high on the Scoville scale πŸ”₯🌢️
  • .. so I've spent a lot of the week driving the RCA process, after we ended up fixing things on Tuesday
  • I've thought about how much I wish I could rewatch IM-944's RCA from Deliveroo
  • Thankfully Cookie was in daycare on Tuesday, because alongside the incident, Anna was in interviews and I would not have been able to deal with it with also having to deal with her
  • It was apparently handled as a "textbook incident", which was good, and I got lots of really nice messages from folks to cheer me on, and to check in on me
  • Cookie was back a bit late, and after a bit of prepping for dinner, I sat down to have a cuddle with Morph - who was desperate to go in the living room - and yet 30 seconds later Cookie arrived 🫣
  • My new case arrived, which feels a bit different to my old one, but I'm sure it'll get slightly greasy over the next few months and be back to normal
  • Halloween πŸŽƒ and Diwali πŸͺ”
  • Thankfully the fireworks weren't nearly as bad this year, albeit there's still been some, and so we've been looking after them both in the living room
  • Managed to purposefully push work out of my mind on Friday evening, which was nice as "the incident" has taken over life this week
  • Unfortunately did have some work related sleep, after talking about it with the family
  • Lost my Wordle streak on Friday πŸ’€
  • Hit 99GB on my Google storage, and am unfortunately having to bump up my monthly storage costs with Google
    • Unfortunately, as I said I'd go through and clean up some old photos 🫣
  • Cookie and Morph have been coexisting well, and right now Cookie is on the footstool and Morph is tucked into me 😻
  • After noticing a bug in an RSS feed for someone I follow, I ended up raising a PR to fix it 🀞🏼
  • An annoying Firefox Nightly Android update where it's not only lost all my bookmarklets, but I can no longer long-press for new tab opening 😒
  • Got an email about someone looking to work at Deliveroo
  • Nice to have the family up this weekend
  • Anna was in Bristol with work this week, but luckily Cookie didn't mind too much having her least favourite (but still loved) parent
  • Was very happy with this year's stock grant, which I'll be getting onto my /salary page when I confirm it's official

In dependency-management-data:

  • I've renamed renovate-diff to renovate-packagedump-diff, but still haven't finished the work on it
    • I've still been making some progress on it, closing off a couple more edge cases, and making it more useful
  • Noticed that Ecosystems (very fairly) started rate-limiting db generate dependency-health so drastically decreased the parallel requests and that seems to be safely under the limit
    • Sorry Andrew 🫣

In oapi-codegen:

  • Did a little bit of triage, and closed some things we're not going to accept
  • Got a new one-off sponsor and a $10/mo sponsor, largely for the OpenAPI 3.1.x support

Watched:

  • Only Murders in the Building
    • A good season finale!
  • Two Broke Girls
  • Scary Movie 4
    • It was unfortunately the only Scary Movie I could watch
  • Rough Night
  • What If?
