A busy week at work with post-incident follow-ups and an incredible downer in the US Elections.
- Got a haircut ahead of the few big meetings this week
- And somehow ended up stepping on one of my hairs, which was painful, hard to find and definitely a "huh, how could that even happen" but π€·πΌ
- The build-up for the week led to Wednesday, where I was presenting about last week's incident, which led to a spike in my heartrate
- Went well though, and all the prep paid off, as well as being a very good opportunity for being a very highly visible opportunity to show my great communication
- Finally got around to watching Sebastian's talk and it was a great talk as well as having a couple of shout outs ππΌ
- Feeling run-down, especially on/after Wednesday, and feeling the stress of the incident onwards, and some general burnout
- Been very happy with Morph being in the living room, and the two little ones coexisting π₯° he's also been coming in when we're not around (but leave it open for him) and he's been much more resilient to Cookie's sometimes
- Hit my 14th anniversary on LinkedIn π±
- Booked a spa day for Friday ππΌ It's my Shut It Down Day and so we're taking a well deserved spa day off
- Ahead of Joe, my new manager, starting tomorrow, I've been updating my Manual of Me
- Had a very good Rakki Rakkas
- Also had a very good Chick n Shakes today
- The OpenUK Digital Meetup was very good - both Ana and Calum were great speakers, we had a good amount of attendees, and good post-event discussion on Slack
- Alexa's had an update that's broken the "what's the time" functionality, which is wild
- Carol came round to pick up the desk, and had a nice catch up with her and Dougie
- Dropping Anna off in West Bridgford was weird without Waze, as neither of our phones would connect
- Tried GitHub Copilot for the first time
- As I'd seen someone noting that Open Source maintainers can get it free (and I'm one of the eligible ones)
- it helped a little on my
skippedReason
blog, but didn't use it too much
- Firefox Nightly Android app has restored the long-press functionality, thankfully
- In Apex Legends, playing Launch Royale has been a somewhat fun reminder of how broken a number of things used to be, and am enjoying the "gifts from the rift"
- Got info about my annual stock grant, and very happy - it's not yet on my /salary/ page, but it will be when I've had it confirmed I'm getting it (mid December, as far as I remember). Drop me a DM on Slack if you're interested to chat ahead of then
- As Roy Tang wrote about the incredibly disappointing results in the US Election:
The USA has once again failed an IQ test. Donald Trump will be their next president. The world braces for things to come.
