Week Notes 25#15

• A fairly productive Batch Bunch, and nice to see folks
  • Almost entirely SSH'd into my desktop - doing some work on trying to provide a better way to visualise the usage of a given dependency, based on some work Paddle have done
  • Did some prep for my DMD talk on Thursday
  • Fixed an issue with oapi-codegen within ~30 minutes of it being raised (as an easy one)
  • Officially retired myself as the Job DSL plugin maintainer (long overdue, but still sad)
• Had a panic to get the last ~150 shotgun damage needed for Apex Legends' creator challenge in ~20 minutes before the window ended 😅
• Opened up my laptop one day and managed to save it at 1% battery 😱
• There was a bit of a Spotify outage which made things a little awkward one day - especially as my desktop doesn't have music downloaded (as there's almost always connectivity)
• Had a lot of Morph in the living room this week 🥰
• Been listening to a lot of Too Late (Felix Cartal's Sunset Mix) since discovering it later in the week
• Spent a bit of the week feeling like the Ralph Wiggum GIF 😬
• Enjoyed speaking at Golang Birmingham on Thursday
  • Was nice to be in the re-opening lineup for the meetup
  • Had some good questions and chat about it
  • Forgot to mention that it was written in Go 🫣
  • Some last-minute tweaks to the slides didn't quite work out, so need to make sure to shuffle things around before the next time
  • On the way, had a very good productivity spurt and managed to finish off my "Lessons learned in EngProd" post, which hasn't had much readership (I did submit to HN but no dice) but it's cool cause I got it out of my head
  • And on the way back did various bits, largely while waiting at Derby for a change (that was delayed but thankfully not canceled, as the last of the day) and charging my phone
• Did some cleanup of my TODO lists
• Proposed "known pURLs" for endoflife.date
• Came back to trying to add support for package replacements in Go using Renovate
• Done some thinking (but no doing) for deps.fyi
• Helping out the Rootly folks with their Go SDK (powered by oapi-codegen)
• Having a very good long weekend, that's been very much needed and chill
• Although it's only been a month since we last had time off, but it feels like we needed time off
• We've even had two Asda pizzas, which is very decadent but a nice way to celebrate the free long weekend
  • Although Friday night's was with pepperoni which was misheard from "peppers" which wasn't too bad, but also not what I wanted
• Had a nice walk with Carol, Vlad and Juno today
• Joined Anna for a bit of gym + sauna which was nice
  • The post-gym sauna wasn't too hot, but was a nice heat and the music was very relaxing
  • Did some rowing + regretted doing a "warm up" bike session
  • But the Rakki Rakkas after was worth it 😋
• Looking forward to catching up with Rich tomorrow
