Week Notes 25#16

  • Had a nice catch-up with Rich on Monday
  • Had an afternoon trip to Mcarthur Glen on Bank Holiday Monday - was a pretty rainy drive, but nice to get out and got the car washed
  • One night my phone was on such low battery that - even though it was on wireless charge - when I ~10 minutes later restarted my Headspace, it then decided to die 😅
  • My "Daylist" Spotify playlist has been very good this week
  • Did a Sainsbury's run and got some cheap Easter eggs, so my fairly restrained Easter became a little less-so
    • And got some choones on on the way, windows down (to air out the drying car)
  • Got another oapi-codegen day at work, so closed off a number of issues, and shipped a big-ish release for the net/http middleware
  • Picked up some of the Sainsburys sushi for lunch on Thursday which was nice
  • Been interesting reading about the NATS/CNCF drama
  • Decided that I won't be going to Las Vegas for Elastic's Engineering All Hands, as I don't feel safe going to the US right now, and the internal conversations aren't making me feel any more comfortable
    • Incredibly gutted and going to have supreme FOMO, and really wish I could go to see everyone, but not with such a big risk
  • Had some good chats with some of the London DevTools folks
  • Spent some time playing around with Marimo around visualising DMD data better
  • Nice to have Mum and Dad up for the day, and had a nice lunch out at The Larch Farm
  • Got an email from the Open Source Initiative about doing a blog post about life as a maintainer, for Maintainer Month 👀
  • Did some work on getting ready for Maintainer Month with setting up up a "which maintainers do you most depend on?"
  • Did some work on the endoflife.date API
  • Started playing around with Argo Workflows for some Renovate replatforming we're doing
  • Surprised everyone when today - on a precious day off - I decided to do some house bits, and went to pick up what we need to treat the deck, but then spent so long trying (and failing) to find bits for the pressure washer, so ended up not getting too much done

Played:

  • Apex Legends (as usual)
    • And just managed to get the "thank your teammates 4 times", after playing with some not-that-helpful teammates
  • Ratchet and Clank: A Crack In Time

Watched:

  • Andor
    • On Monday, sat down to watch "the last episode of season 1" and realised we had 3 to watch 😅
    • Heckin' great start to the final season
  • House
  • The After Party
    • And finished season 2 - the start of the season felt a bit lacking, but it picked up towards the end
  • Taskmaster
    • Finishing off the last series, ahead of the new one this week
